Chook

Chook

Labels:

Lauter Unfug, Full Force, Shadow Law, Syndrome, Inclusion

Bio: Amongst all the multi-genre mashing and the come-and-go tunes of the day, it can be hard to pick out something which has a shelf life longer than the next epileptic bassline to quake the local dancefloor or the latest remix from a moribund LFO maniac, slowly descending into blog house madness. However, into that void steps a producer with a history for sticking to his aesthetic guns; a producer who’s not afraid to touch the other side of the genre explosion; a producer who arrives at the party armed with a suitcase full of subtlety and an outlook more akin to the artists of old.

Chook is that artist, and The Cocoon, Chook’s debut long-playing project, moves beautifully through drum & bass, minimal techno and stunning ambient soundscapes without pausing for breath. The Cocoon is the culmination of a decade’s worth of hard work. In 2004, Chook launched Full Force Recordings as an output for the fierce and disturbing side of European techno influenced drum & bass. The label garnered support right from the off with DJs as diverse as Roni Size, J Majik and Calyx & Teebee all queuing up to work Full Force’s releases into their sets. Chook, alongside friends such as Germany’s Phace (Subtitles), New Zealand’s State of Mind (Shogun Audio) and USA’s Mayhem (Ram Records) put the label firmly on the map with tracks from some of the world’s finest breakbeat artists, keeping the music policy as credible, long-lasting D&B.

Now, six years since he started Full Force, Chook delves deeper into his influences, spreading his wings as a producer without resorting to cheap tricks and sheep-like trend following. From the growling bass of Optimus Prime through to the inch- perfect elements of Time Running Backwards and the building, spacious progression of Toontown, The Cocoon is a lesson in staying true to your beliefs and sticking the middle finger to those who dare question your motives. Some might consider that a lost art in drum & bass these days.

LABELS:

Leap4Frog, Lauter Unfug, Esoteric

Bio: Born 1985 in Luxembourg, this young talent discovered his passion for electronic music at the age of 15. Two years later he took his first steps in music production and DJing. In 2007 he released his first Track on Yenns YARecords, followed by several remixes. 2009 was a good year for the young man, as he gained recognition by one of the industries finest house DJ’s, Ian Carey, who took ND Catani on his own imprint GFab Records, giving him the chance to remix Names such as The Ian Carey Project – Get Shaky, Beatthiefs, or Soul-avengers. In the mean time Andy started his side Project MINE(Minimal is not enough) which gained big support from download portals like Trackitdown or Beatport, featuring and charting his releases.

2011 brought another big step in Andy’s career, he released his first Album on Yenn’s noobish records, and Martin Solveig released his remix of the Hit Single “Hello” on his Label Mixture recordings. 2012 was a bit quiet, but Andy was still active, producing unreleased stuff, like La PaSoLe, a summer anthem, that’s still hot. And another project was born: The Green Lung with his mate, Djail Green, there attitude is to produce tracks that brings people a smile. And now since 2013 Andy is back under his Old Pseudonym ND Catani, on his focus: the more deep and techy side of the House-genre.

Normal that this man does not only produce music, no, he’s also a genius in the booth, blending nearly every house genre together into one big performance. So, stay tuned as the future looks very promising for this skilled, extraordinary, uprising artist.

Beatamines Live & DJ

Labels:

EINMUSIKA / KENO RECORDS / UPON YOU / BONDAGE – MUSIC / CLICK RECORDS / TRAUMSCHALLPLATTEN / MOONBOUTIQUE / LAUTER UNFUG

Bio: Sometimes you are creating a declaration of love – automatically. Beatamines composed many of those lines for extraordinary dancing people, for electronic music and the possibility to express himself with tracks like „How Never“ or “Swaggin“. His tracks and remixes were released on MBF (Traumschallplatten), Bondage – Music, Kittball, Stil vor Talent and on his hombebase, David Keno’s imprint Keno Records. But Beatamines does not only work as a solo producer, he also releases tracks with his mate David Jach – each number got a place in the charts and Beatamines was elected to one of the best newcomers in the last two years.

Now the German nice guy is nearly booked up and he is on the way to being an honoured unique DJ, Liveact and Producer beyond Europe. Pascal Augner, that‘s the real name of Beatamines, waggles busy with his declarations of passion and writes new ones every day. He’s packing the groove of a summer love into it, underlined with fat baselines, pregnant claps and chunky melodies.

2013 was a good and successful year for Pascal. He reinterpreted “The Planets” together with David Jach and the Dortmund Philharmonics (100 man strong orchestra) Gustav Holst. That was a very great honour for him, music remixing and re-writing for such a huge body of sound. Due to popular demand, the project „Groove Symphony” will be continued.

In the beginning of 2014 the restless Thuringia has established a new project with Mirco Niemeier called „Ektschn!“
Her tracks land on labels like Super Flu’s “Sunset Handjob” or André Crom’s OFF Recordings! 3, 2, 1 and Ektschn!
Catch him, if you can… and don’t forget to eat your Beatamines!
